We’re looking for a dedicated couple to care for and manage a beautiful private waterfront property on Gambier Island. This position is perfect for those seeking something a little different, a chance to step away from city life, work closely with nature, and take pride in maintaining and improving a special place. This is a full-time, paid position based on Gambier Island, with private on-site housing and boat access provided.
The property includes two homes, a utility shop, boats, UTVs, and various heavy equipment. The role combines both practical, hands-on work and day-to-day property management. The role is two fold; property maintenance manager and housekeeper/garden manager, these roles work closely together and a couple who like working as a team will thrive in these roles.

Property Maintenance Manager Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee all property maintenance, repair, and operational activities
- Perform general maintenance tasks and manual labor
- Maintain upkeep of tools, boats, and small and large engines, with routine inspections and servicing
- Supervise and schedule contractors, trades, and service providers
- Handle minor plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and mechanical troubleshooting
- Landscaping, groundskeeping, and pest management
- Manage and track inventories of supplies, tools, equipment, and consumables
- Maintain a calendar of property needs: seasonal work, inspections, service intervals, etc.
- Utilize property management software for task management and communication
Housekeeper & Garden Manager Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the living spaces & beyond
- Monitor and replenish household consumables
- Prepare the home for guests or special occasions as needed
- Assist in the planting and maintaining of a seasonal vegetable and herb garden
- Perform regular garden care: watering, weeding, pruning, mulching, and pest control
- Maintain garden tools and equipment, and manage inventory.
- Manage schedules, calendar and property management software
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- Boat operation/maintenance
- General maintenance skills: minor carpentry, plumbing, electrical, landscaping, and tool/equipment care
- Diesel engine maintenance
- Comfortable performing manual labor, including lifting, using hand tools, and operating machinery
- Experience managing contractors and overseeing work completion
- Strong communication & organizational skills and ability to maintain detailed records and scheduling systems
- Self-motivated, observant, dependable, and practical
- Willingness to live full-time on site with some on-call responsibilities
