Incredibly powerful Phase Distortion digital poly synth which uses a combination of Phase Distortion synthesis and true FM synthesis. This was Casio's first major foray into the professional synth market, and they went all-in with features. The VZ-10M is the rack mount version of the VZ-1.
The voice architecture is similar to something like a DX7 with "operators" (called "modules" on the VZ-10M) that are combined using various algorithms to generate harmonics, etc. With the addition of ring modulation and extended feedback possibilities, as well as multiple base waveforms such as saw and noise, the timbral capabilities of the VZ-10m are far beyond its Yamaha contemporaries.
Extensive voice layering/splitting options, easy to navigate non-nested menus, aftertouch, and 9 8-stage (!) envelopes which can be graphically edited make this a deep synth for evolving textural sounds.
The screen is somewhat dim, but is working as it should, as this is normal for these units.
Includes RA-500 memory card for extended patch memory and backup.
