Hours: Part-time position (approximately 17 hours/week)
We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and energetic support worker to assist a woman in her 30s-40s who is living with ADHD, depression, and anxiety.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys helping others stay motivated, active, and engaged in daily life. The successful candidate will provide practical support, encouragement, and companionship while helping maintain routines and achieve personal goals. The role will also involve spending time with and participating in activities alongside the client's child.
Responsibilities:
Summer Focus
Providing motivation and accountability for daily activities
Assisting with household chores and organization
Helping with meal planning, cooking, and developing basic cooking skills
Accompanying and encouraging exercise and outdoor activities
Going for walks (5+ km)
Assisting with social outings and community activities
Driving to appointments, errands, and other engagements
Offering positive companionship and emotional support
Spending time with and participating in activities with the client's child
Fall Focus
Providing tutoring support while the client attends the Health Care Assistant (HCA) program
Assisting with reading comprehension, spelling, study skills, and learning strategies
Helping the client build confidence and develop effective learning habits
Supporting the client in understanding course materials and completing assignments
Requirements:
Criminal record check
Comfortable supporting someone with ADHD, depression, and anxiety
Positive, patient, and encouraging personality
Physically capable of participating in walks and recreational activities
Ability to build rapport and maintain professional boundaries
Assets:
Previous experience in support work, caregiving, mental health support, or related fields
Experience tutoring, teaching, educational assistance, or supporting individuals with learning disabilities
Interest in fitness, hiking, cooking, or outdoor recreation
About the Role:
The ideal candidate is someone close in age to the client who can relate well, provide encouragement, and help create structure and momentum throughout the day. This is a supportive companionship role focused on helping the client stay active, engaged, and connected.
The position is primarily focused on companionship, household support, healthy living, and community engagement during the summer months. In the fall, the role may continue for the right candidate and expand to include tutoring support while the client attends the Health Care Assistant (HCA) program.
The client has a learning disability, and tutoring will focus on reading comprehension, spelling, study habits, and building confidence. The academic level is approximately Grade 10. You do not need to be an expert in healthcare or possess advanced academic qualifications—the ideal candidate is patient, encouraging, and able to help the client understand and work through written materials.
Compensation: $30 per hour
