Baker – Job Description
ROLE SUMMARY
Crust Bakery is a boutique bakery with two locations located in Victoria, BC. Serving scratch-made baked goods and artisan breads inspired in equal parts by the fresh local flavours of Vancouver Island and Head Chef Tom Moore’s Australian background, Crust has earned a reputation for excellence and has been named Victoria’s Best Bakery by publications including Tasting Victoria and Best of the City.
Reporting to the Kitchen Manager and to Senior Bakers, Crust Bakery “Bakers” are responsible for producing baked goods for sale, ensuring quality control, and for the day- to-day Back of House operations. Bakers may serve as mentors and role models to their junior baker counterparts, and may also sometimes train new hires. The Baker’s goal should be to aim to become competent in all sections of Crust Bakery kitchen, and to gain strong knowledge of pastry, breads, cakes, general prep and laminated doughs.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Following recipes to create Crust’s selection of award-winning products
• Delegate tasks to junior bakers and dishwashers in the absence of the Senior
Bakers and the Kitchen Manager.
• Ensuring to follow all health and safety regulations
• Ensuring the fulfillment of the business and customer orders in a timely fashion
KNOWLEDGE
• Preferably has several years commercial baking experience
• 1+ years experience in commercial bakery or restaurant settings, including
supervisory experience

OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• Must be able to stand for up to 8 hours
• Must be able to bend, twist, and lift up to 50 lbs
• Must be able to start as early as 3 AM
