This listing is for your choice of a fabulous Slavic Legends/ Fairytales collectible plate. These plates are part of a 12-plate series that were sold by Bradford Exchange in the late 1980's/early 1990's.
They were the first collectors plate series ever produced in Russia. Patterned after the famous designs found on Russian lacquer boxes from the village of Palekh.
Palekh was previously a center of icon painting and as such it is mentioned several times in the documents of the 17th century.Icon painting was a family occupation and the craft was passed on from one generation to another. Unique and colorful design executed in bright colors on black background with 18 karat gold accents.
Limited edition. Size: 7,5 inches in diameter ( round)

All plates are new, in original packaging (boxes) from Brandford Exchange ( 1989-1996) and supplied with original paperwork and certificates of quality.
It shows an episode from a well-known Russian poem written by famous Alexander Pushkin, "Tale of Pope and his worker Balda".
