The 11th edition of the Encyclopaedia Britannica is highly regarded because it contains works by men highly regarded in their fields. It also was the 1st edition to manifest a substantial American character. Its compiler as well as 11% of its contributors were American.
The cloth board edition of 29 volumes plus three newer volumes in good condition have a retail rare book store estimated value range of US$3200-3600. If it had its original stand and were leather bound, it would be worth a few hundred more.
